Three Day Forecast
A reflection on last week and looking ahead to this week and what the "weather" will bring.
Three Day Forecast Monday is sunshine with long hours swinging in the hammock sweat forming from the sun beating down from the magical adventure in my hands lost in the fantasy world hoping and laughing a smile and a warm heart. Tuesday clouds hover a fifty percent chance of rain heaviness of the air combined with the blanket I am curled under curled up and hiding from the horrors in the pages yet turning those pages as quick as the wind blowing outside. Wednesday a downpour storms severe and intense lightning cutting into my heart rain racing down the window matching the tears streaming down my face soaking the pages of the book clenched in my hands.
I am participating in Kate Messner’s Teacher Write and a recent prompt was from Laura Ruby and she shared Hermit Crab Poems, which I’ve not heard about before! Basically, they are poems that take the form of something else like a screenplay, a quiz, a recipe, a speech, etc. There are many different forms!
I chose to write a poem in the form of a weather report, but focused on reading. Here it is-I hope you enjoy! It’s not the most polished, but I wanted to share. I had a lot of fun writing this work.
Reading Updates
Last week I finished four books and you can read more of my thoughts and reviews on each book by clicking the image below to visit my blog.
My favorite read is a tough one…but I guess I will say If the Shoe Fits by Julie Murphy because I could not keep myself from reading it and gushing over it. But, they were all fantastic reads, really.
What have you been reading?

You can hear more about my books that I read and other things reading related by watching my YouTube (I also made it a YouTube Podcast that you can find through the YouTube Music App) and now I have a PODCAST that I will soon get on Apple Podcasts! They are the same though, so pick your poison.
Writing Life
I have been really inspired lately through listening to podcasts, watching YouTube videos, and starting a new craft book.
Podcasts-Some of my favorite episodes I’ve been listening to:

Craft Book: I started The Magic Words by Cheryl B Klein and I am so excited for this book. I always struggle with craft books because I never know if I should stop reading and start doing the exercises immediately or if I should mark them for later…it kind of stresses me out! What do you do when you read a craft book? Do you do the exercises right then?
And lastly, if you’ve made it this far, let me know what you like about this newsletter. What kept you reading this far?
Also, I apologize for sending you TWO messages today, one with the newsletter and one with my podcast…I suppose if I am doing both one day I should just do it all in one? I am not really sure…help!
Be a dear and share my words.
Take care.
What a fun poem, Alexis! I haven't heard of this type of poem before either but it's such a great idea.
