June 24: Looking Back to Look Ahead
A look back on what I read last week, what my writing has looked like, and my hopes for this week!
Looking Back
This past week was overall a really great one. I finished 7 books. Wrote 2 blog posts. Journaled a bit. Played Roblox with the (not-so) little one.
I love Mondays because I enjoy reflecting on what I accomplished in the previous week and I like to set goals. Most of the time, I forget my goals (which is a goal of mine to fix haha) but I find comfort in setting them each week.
How do you prepare for a new week?
Last Week’s Posts
I posted two substacks last week-so if you missed them, here they are! You can click to read the full stacks.
I am really excited to announce a new series where I interview authors with books releasing this year! I hope to do both podcasts and written interviews. I won’t email each one to you as I don’t want to flood your inbox. Unless you want me to!
Let me know what you prefer:
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?
Time for one of my favorite things to do on Mondays-share what I have been reading and what I look forward to reading.
It’s also a great way to check in and see what others are reading. Make sure to visit the IMWAYR hosts Unleashing Readers and Teach Mentor Texts to find other blogs to follow that use this weekly wrap up.
So, here are my short and sweet thoughts on each book I finished: (click on the images for links to purchase)
This Ravenous Fate by Hayley Dennings
Vampires. Harlem. Jazz. Prohibiton.
Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez
OMG READ THIS BOOK. Banter. Mental Health Rep. Swoon.
Home is Where the Bodies Are by Jeneva Rose
Do you really know your family?
The Haunting of Lake Lucy by Sandy Deutscher Green
Ghost story told in poetry. Unique.
A Rover’s Story by Jasmine Warga
Audiobook and a reread. If a rover could talk-what would it say?
I also interviewed Jasmine Warga about her writing process- you can listen here.
The Change by Kirsten Miller
Feminist rage. Magic. Sisterhood. Revenge. Amazing.
Warriors: Moonrise by Erin Hunter
Reading with my daughter. These books will tear your heart out-especially if you love cats.
Hopefuls for the Week:
Books I am currently reading include (I know, I read too many at once but I can’t stop…)
Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young
What the River Knows by Isabel Ibañez
Sword Catcher by Cassandra Clare
Emily Wilde’s Map of the Motherlands by Heather Fawcett
Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman
The Dead are Closer than they Appear by Robin Wasley
Raising Mentally Strong Kids by Dr. Amen and Dr. Fay
Writing
I am still trying to write more-the 1000 words a day is not happening as often as I would like, but I have not given up on it.
Other things I have been up to
Crocheting- The 2022 Reading blanket is seriously almost finished. I have a couple more rows before adding the border! I will post a picture when it’s finished.
Walking-It’s super hot here and HUMID…but I am continuing walks (and usually crocheting while walking).
Video Games-So I’ve recently found Nanograms on my phone and I LOVE THEM. They have replaced my scrolling on Instagram which is…good?
Do something for yourself today!
Make sure to take the time and do something for yourself today. I would love to hear what you choose to do.
If you haven’t yet, please consider taking this survey so I can learn more about my followers!
Finished 7 books is quite an accomplishment. As well as 2 blog posts. I hope to finish tweaking Half-Truths. But I better stop reading other people's posts and get to it!
