Reading Life
Last Week I Finished…
Adult
Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young
One of my friends who I got into reading a few years ago (sorry for the brag, but it’s the best feeling!) told me to read this book and lent me her copy. Of course this was forever ago BUT I finally read it!
This book was all vibes but also great plot and characters. I love this type of magical world-one that is almost real, except for the magic part lol.
Leather & Lark by Brynne Weaver
Read. The. Trigger. Warnings.
Also-it’s SPICY.
By the Book by Jasmine Guillory
If you have not read the “Meant to Be” series, what are you even doing!?! Seriously, read them. This is the second one (they are standalone) and are based on Fairytales, but really loosely.
These are closed-door romances and just so stinking cute.
Young Adult
The Poisons We Drink by Bethany Baptiste
I was lucky and received both a physical and digital ARC of this book which let me read this pretty quickly. I will say the last third dragged until the end, but it could have been me because I was reading at night and kept falling asleep and dreaming weird stuff that confused me! lol. Geez. It was wild.
Gorgeous Gruesome Faces by Linda Cheng
A great audiobook if you are looking for one-I enjoyed the narrator.
Also…the body gore ( I think that’s what it is called) is not a lot, but is there. It is horror, so I did expect horror-just…be ready.
Middle Grade
Quiet Power: Secret Strengths of Introverted Kids by Susan Cain
I could (and might) write a more detailed post about this book because honestly, it was so valuable. If you are a teacher or a parent, I definitely think you should take the time to read either Quiet or Quiet Power-they are books about being introverted in an extroverted world. This is a great glimpse into the world of introverts-the struggled (but should they be struggles?) and their inner workings. For teachers, this is a great resource to use to understand your introverted students.
One of my favorite things is that it was illustrated by my fav graphic-poet novelist (is that the right word?) -Grant Snider!
This week I hope to read…
1 nonfiction: Magic Words
1 ARC: A Family of Killers by Bryce Moore (forgot to put in graphic)
1 book I own: Basil and Dahlia AND Chlorine (as of an hour ago when Hoopla removed it from my shelf)
Reading Challenge
I tried to do a reading challenge last week where I read for my screen time amount from the week before…and it was too hard and led me to quit. But, I think I read a lot (finished 6 books) and so, I am counting it as a win.
Honestly, a better goal is to just stay off my phone. I found myself listening to audiobook and scrolling-which is not the point really.
Writing Life
Well…I haven’t done much. But, goals for this week is to journal and write. Also, listening to podcasts and watching YouTube on some women in my current project.
Creative Life
Also non-existent. But, last night I crocheted during my walk and it reminded me why I love to crochet.
I also started a bookish bracelet-hope to finish soon!
Other goals and things of interest
Still walking 3 miles a day (and still reading/crocheting while doing so-don’t worry, it’s safe).
Daily journaling to keep myself productive and reflective..and for my mental health
Reading Journal
I would love to hear how your week was and what you hope to do this week!
Take care.
