Thank you HMH Books for Young Readers, Media Masters Publicity, and David Elliott for sharing a copy of this classic retelling in exchange for an honest review. I was first drawn by this cover and the title-it is so dark and mysterious! Then, when I realized it was both a novel in verse AND fairytale retelling, I knew I would love it. And I did. David is a master poet and his words were beautiful. I found myself reading them aloud to hear their beauty.
