Day 6: Free Verse

I decided to write about teaching. There have been many posts and reports about teachers this week and it has made me realize several things.

One is that I am lucky to have my job. I am so lucky. I am in a district that cares so much for me. I feel like my needs and wants are met, which means the needs and wants of my students are met. I feel respected as a teacher in my community and my school.

Another thing I realized is that I love being a teacher and it’s because I don’t just love my subject. I love what I get to do at school. I get to meet some amazing people, both students and adults. I get to watch my students grow. I get to help people every day.

I did not grow up thinking I would be a teacher and I am not really sure how I stumbled into deciding to be one, but it’s what I was meant to do.
