It’s January and the bitter cold is upon us. What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than by snuggled in my favorite blanket next to my daughter and reading some powerful and funny picture books?
Powerful Characters in Real Life
These two titles were both gifted to me by authors-Jessica sent me Gloria Takes a Stand and Rajani LaRocca sent me Muslim Girls. Both books feature powerful females who have made an impact on our world. I highly recommend both for readers of all ages. They are both written in a style that would be entertaining for young readers and motivational for older.
Entertaining Reads
These books are more geared towards younger readers, but have great value in each and could be utilized in older readers as well. I loved the humor in My Farts Don’t Stink, the message in It’s a Field Trip, Busy Bus, and the love in Goodnight Bubbala.
Writing Motivation
This book is a MUST for classrooms, especially for reading and writing classes. I was so motivated to start writing while reading this book. Amy Ludwig VanDerwater is an amazing poet (follow here blog on The Poem Farm) and this book was awesome.
I had a great Sunday and I hope you did too. I also hope you add at least one of these to your collections. Happy Reading!
