It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?
This last week was a powerful reading week, but the same cannot be said for my writing. I am in Kate Messner’s Teaching Writing course, so I am gaining new ideas and ways to work on my craft, but I did not work on my current story.
Books I Finished
My top books I finished last week include Maybe He Just Likes You by Barbara Dee (released October 1) and Spinner of Dreams by K.A. Reynolds (releases August 27). Both of these books are must reads and must be in the classroom and library! I could gush my feelings on them all day!
The other books were also great reads. I’ll Be There was an audiobook and the narrator was very quiet, but the story matched her voice. It was a serious story, little humor (except with Bobby!) and I would call it a romance for young readers. Also, Handmaid’s Tale is not for young readers. It is an adult read.

Summer Goals
Bookaday
I feel really great with this challenge. I have read 54 books out of my goal to read 84!
100 Days of Summer Writing
I did not get much done with my writing in terms of word count, but I am participating in Kate Messner’s Teachers Write to work on my craft. I am really enjoying the mentor texts she chose and her lessons. She has some really powerful and useful advice and ideas.
How are your goals going? Are you enjoying your summer? Remember, the summer is the time to take care of yourself. So, although I have goals, it is more important that I am enjoying myself and relaxing.
