IMWAYR-Reviews and Challenges
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? #IMWAYR is a weekly blog hop co-hosted by Unleashing Readers and Teach Mentor Texts which focuses on sharing books marketed for children and young adults. It offers opportunities to share and recommend books with each other. Make sure to visit these blogs (and those linked in their posts) to find new books and new friends.
(The original IMWAYR, with an adult literature focus, was started by Sheila at Book Journeys and is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.)
Below is a list of the books I read this past week and my thoughts. I've also included some challenges I am trying this year. Thanks for stopping by!
Books I Finished
I'll be honest, my reading habits have been heavy in the young adult and adult ranges...but I am trying to get back into the Middle Grade world. I think sometimes my focus is not quite 100% and so a higher stakes book or a thriller just keeps my attention more! Middle Grade does always have my heart though, and I hope to devote more attention to these books.

A Place to Hang the Moon by Kate Albus
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Why did it take me so long to read this???? This historical fiction book was full of beautiful and almost lyrical descriptions, vivid characters, and some heart wrenching moments that had me freaking out a little. I can't wait for more from Kate!

The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea by Axie Oh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
What a beautiful book. I really love reading mythological stories, especially those set in Korea and this book was perfect. It read like a folktale, full of twists and turns and fun characters. Also...this cover is GORGEOUS. I can't wait to read more by Axie Oh.

One of Us Is Dead by Jeneva Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
A friend recommended this to me and I am so glad I picked it up. I was hooked with the drama from the start and the twist at the end made it all worth it.

Forever, Interrupted by Taylor Jenkins Reid
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This wasn't my favorite Reid book-I really struggled getting into it after the initial 20%. I am not sure if it made me scared and too emotional because I often worry about my loved ones dying or what...but I struggled. I did like watching the main character's growth and the people who helped her along the way.

I am pretty excited about this challenge from the 2023 Debut group on Instagram. So far, I have read 3 debuts! (I should probably focus on getting a bingo, but oh well.)
