Reflection

As a reader, I have grown so much this year. I read many, many books centered around the Civil Rights Movement, racism, and other tough topics. I really wanted to learn more about the struggles other people face and the tragedies that impact others' lives. My heart broke a lot this year, but my eyes were opened at the same time. Isn't that what books are for? To help you empathize and understand the world around you?

As an educator, I have also grown. I have read more professional development books that have challenged and pushed me as a teacher.

I have also connected with many authors and have had 4 virtual visits in my classroom. I have won a lot of books for my students through meeting authors and winning giveaways on Twitter.

Through Twitter, I have connected with other teachers and professionals and developed great relationships. I have reached out for help as well as gave help in return. My network has grown and I am a better teacher because of it.

Finally, one of my most exciting events was co-creating a review group of teachers and educational professionals called the Lit Review Crew. We have received books, both early release copies and final copies, for us to read, review, and share. I love being able to help authors spread the word about their books and talk about books to fellow booklovers. I am excited to see what next year brings to us!
